{"id":249,"date":"2019-05-20T15:34:07","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T13:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.visitdobrinj.hr\/?post_type=obj_mjesta&#038;p=249"},"modified":"2025-11-25T17:18:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T15:18:38","slug":"silo","status":"publish","type":"obj_mjesta","link":"http:\/\/www.visitdobrinj.hr\/en\/place\/silo\/","title":{"rendered":"\u0160ilo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Even though\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitdobrinj.hr\/en\/mjesta\/dobrinj\/\"><strong>Dobrinj<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0has always been the administrative and cultural centre of this region, the proud champion of tourism in Dobrinj\u0161tina is one of the more recent settlements in this part of the island. This is the village of \u0160ilo, whose name is based on the exact thing rooted into its origin and existence. According to linguists, its name is semantically related to a cape or a sea rock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The beginnings of tourism date back to 1928, when Dru\u0161tvo \u0160ilo (\u0160ilo Company) was founded. However, \u0160ilo is not only the champion of local tourism. It was exactly this picturesque village that <strong>the first ferry in this part of the Adriatic, \u201cBodulka\u201d, set sail from on 12<sup>th<\/sup> April 1959,<\/strong> which marked the opening of the first ferry line \u0160ilo \u2013 Crikvenica and the beginning of a new era in the development of \u0160ilo, the island of Krk and the north Adriatic.<\/p>\n<p>Bodulka\u2019s predecessor was much older; at the beginning of 1905, the\u00a0<strong>Krk Steam Shipping Company <\/strong>(<strong>Kr\u010dko parobrodarsko dru\u0161tvo<\/strong>), the first such company on the island of Krk, was founded.
