Gastronomy

The omnipresent marks of the past in Dobrinjština can be seen in the gastronomy of the region as well. Based on the principle of “how and what are ancestors ate”, the hospitality industry facilities base their offer on various types of fish specialities.

On the other hand, there are also menus whose “featured dish” is pasta. As the main speciality, restaurants will offer you what used to be a rare dish once – žvacet s makaruni (goulash with macaroni). Žvacet or goulash can be combined with šurlice (a type of home-made pasta special for its method of preparation). There is also a gastro combination of “fish and pasta”, so you can treat yourself to a dish of šurlice in combination with seafood.

PRESNOC – AUTHENTIC SWEET DISH

If you wish to have a dessert, try presnoc, an authentic sweet dish made from home-made goat cheese. In the past, giving presnoc to someone as a gift was an act of expressing the most profound respect for them. Today, most of the restaurant facilities in Dobrinjsko show you this kind of respect!
